Congratulations to Claudia Catzeflis, Saloni, Sophie Hulme and Vassilisa, the latest crop of young designers to earn practical support on a career-changing scale.This years designers have a strong individual style, said Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council. Rush, together with BFC Show Manager Katie Bain, ELLE Fashion Director Anne-Marie Curtis, ELLE Fashion Features Director Rebecca Lowthorpe, Helena Christensen (who wore a Saloni dress to the ELLE Style Awards), and retail directors and designers, felt that the four winners rose to the top of their group of peer designers. It was clear to the panel that these four designers would benefit the most from the support, mentoring and profile of this scheme.The four winners will receive exhibition space at London Fashion Week for two seasons.  Additionally, independent UK retailers Cricket, Hervia Bazaar, Square and Anna have committed to placing orders from at least one of the shortlisted designers for two seasons. Add in international exposure through ELLE editorials, and the result is a recipe for success which, in its first year, boosted Irwin and Jordan, Holly Fulton and David Longshaws careers to new heights.The BFC/ELLE Talent Launch Pad aims to provide nascent British designers with the opportunities, acumen and support to thrive in the competitive fashion industry, ELLEs Acting Editor Jenny Dickinson said. The UK is a hub of fantastic, creative talent, but turning a flair for design into a profitable business is a gargantuan task.Meet the winners in ELLEs October issue, on newsstands now.
