If we've learnt anything in the last few years, it's that Zendaya is quick off the fashion mark. Maybe it was being amongst the first to revisit vintage (Fifties Balmain to Nineties Valentino) or picking up on new designers of note (Torishéju just last week), but it's safe to say that she's built a strong case for being a sartorial leader that others are quick to follow and emulate.

Zendaya's latest look, however, might just be her and, admittedly, her stylist Law Roach's most mean sartorial feat yet. Now deep in the midst of the press tour for her next movie, Dune: Part Two, her outfits thus far have each riffed on the film's future-set dystopian mood. And her latest wear is none other than that Alaïa dress.

The stress of it being that dress comes down to the fact that when the dress was shown as part of another stellar collection from the ever-elegant Pieter Mulier just a few short weeks ago at the close of January, it was that dress that went viral. And understandably so.

Since in its inception in the Eighties, when it was still heralded by its eponymous founder, Azzedine Alaïa, the brand has always championed intriguing and highly conceptual ways of dressing the female body, with a focus on form and technique, all of which was visible when this dress was shown in Paris and when Zendaya wore it. The style wraps around the torso in a singular sweep before falling in a thigh-high slit and the fabric pooling to the floor. The result is a fully contemporary take that's made using a wool 3D print to allow for precision and to make it technically possible. Making such an impact on the catwalk and the potential to carry that through onto a red carpet, you can imagine several celebrity stylists had placed the request for their talent to get the dress and Zendaya won that ballot.

When it came to styling the dress, Roach and Zendaya left the fuss at home with the actor wearing a simple pair of white pointed shoes and going without any jaunty jewellery to just wear a singular ring.

Of course, in being a white gown this dress offers up brides planning their wedding inspiration for their nuptials, especially if they're wanting to choose something more modern or fashion-focused when it comes to their outfits.

Why not follow suit but choosing a dress that boasts a sculptural silhouette that needs little else? A look such as this is one of surprising ease as there becomes little need to fret or waste time planning and pruning with accessories. What could be more modern than that?
