The old adage that ‘good things come in small packages’ has been proven true throughout fashion and popular culture in recent months.

Whether it was Lizzo’s tiny Valentino handbag at the AMAs last month or Timothée Chalamet’s Eiffel Tower keyring accessory at the Paris premiere of Little Women on Thursday, the smallest things are making the biggest noise at the moment.

So, imagine our glee when Lizzo appeared on CBS This Morning on Friday and was presented with a teeny tiny mug by the show’s hosts.

‘We thought you need a little cup to go along with your little purse,’ the news presenter told the Grammy Award winning singer, before she erupted into laughter.

‘There’s eight ounces of coffee in there, how did you do that?’ she joked before the four toasted her appearance on the show.

During the group’s interview with Lizzo, the singer responded to criticism over her recent outfit that she wore to a Lakers game in New York City.

Earlier this week, the 31-year-old twerked courtside during a game between the Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves Sunday during which she wore a black dress with a cut out at the back that showed off her thong and derrière.

‘I stay in my own positive bubble,’ the singer told the presenters amid the criticism for the revealing outfit. ‘It’s their opinion – it’s not really for me to ingest. It’s for them to express and for me to choose to listen to or not.

‘No one would’ve seen what I was wearing – the back of it – if I hadn’t have got up and danced.’

The singer continued, explaining that the Lakers cheerleaders came up to her prior to her improvised dance and told her that they wanted to perform one of her songs.

‘I did what I always do,’ she added, referring to her dance after much encouragement from her manager and friends.

‘It was out,’ the singer, said of her bottom. ‘Do you know how long it’s taken for me to fall in love with my body? My butt was my least favourite thing about myself and now I’ve learnt to love it. Now it’s the thing that everyone can’t stop talking about.

‘Be you, do you and don’t let anyone steal your joy - especially the Internet.’

Following rumours that the singer had been banned from the Staples Center for her dance and outfit, president Lee Zeidman told Billboard that isn’t the case and that she is ‘welcome here anytime’.

Earlier in the week, the ‘Good As Hell’ performer took to Instagram Live to tell those who criticise her that their views have ‘no effect’ on her.

‘You don’t have to be like me,’ she said to camera. ‘You need to be like you, and never, ever let somebody stop you or shame you from being yourself. Like, this is who I’ve always been, now everyone’s looking at it and your criticism can just remain your criticism. Your criticism has no effect on me.’

'Negative criticism has no stake in my life, no control over my life, over my emotions. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. I’m surrounded by love. And I just wanna spread that love and also spread these cheeks. And you know, if you really, really don’t like my a**, you can kiss it, ‘cause kissing it makes it go away, I promise.'
