Meghan Markle and Prince Harry appear to have settled quite comfortably into their Santa Barbara home since moving Stateside in 2020. That year the royal couple moved from the UK to north America with their son Archie before relocating permanently to California.

At the beginning of their stay across the Atlantic, the couple had moved into a compound owned by actor Tyler Perry which boasted six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a pool, a home theatre and a children’s play area.

However, in July of the same year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated from Los Angeles and made a stunning $14.65 million (£11.4 million) Montecito Santa Barbara property their Mediterranean-inspired family home, which features nine-bedroom and 16 bathrooms. ,

Variety previously reported the property was built in 2003 and includes ‘a trove of beige and off-white decor, plus a library, gym, separate wet and dry saunas, an elevator, arcade, game room and home theatre’.

A detached guesthouse with two bedrooms and bathrooms are also included on the compound, which helps add to its 19,000 square foot area of living space.

Other celebrities living in the Montecito area include Gwyneth Paltrow, Ellen DeGeneres and Ariana Grande.

Here are all the details you need to know about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Montecito home:

The price of the home

During a new interview with The Cut in August 2022, journalist Allison P Davis interviewed Markle at the couple's Montecito home, which she described as a 'classic Tuscan villa, a Napa vineyard and a Beverly Hills country club'.

'We were looking in this area (Montecito, California) and this house kept popping up online in searches,' the mother-of-two explained in the interview when quizzed about the family's relocation from London.

Markle continued, noting that she and Prince Harry were reluctant to view the property as they didn't 'have jobs' at the time and its price tag. 'We didn't have jobs, so we were just not going to come and see this house. It wasn't possible. It's like when I was younger and you're window shopping – it's like "I don't want to go and look at all the things that I can't afford, that doesn't feel good".'

She added that she and her husband have done 'everything they could' to create a calm and joyful. 'It's healing, you feel free,' she said.

Speaking of the two intertwined palm trees in their garden, she noted: 'See how they're connected at the bottom? [Prince Harry] goes, "My love, it's us" and now everyday Archie goes by us, he says "Hi mumma, hi papa".'

Kitchen

Months after they moved to their Montecito home, Prince Harry seemingly gave royal fans a sneak peek into what his family’s kitchen looks like.

In a filmed message announcing the news of the Invictus Games’ second postponement, Prince Harry sat down in what appeared to be his kitchen to share an update about the sporting event, noting that it will take place ‘when the world is ready’ amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

While the framing of the shot only gave fans a very brief insight into the hub of the home, we saw that the kitchen had a cream-coloured finish and was fitted with wooden cupboards and brass knobs.

The interiors of the kitchen seemingly mirrored the colourway of the family’s living room, which we've previously noted is decorated with flowers, stacks of books and three mounted cream and black-coloured prints on the wall.

Cream-coloured lounge

In September 2020, the Duchess of Sussex spoke in a special message for America's Got Talent contestant Archie Williams during the NBC show's finale.

‘Hi Archie,’ the mother-of-one said to camera. ‘I just wanted to let you know that we've been so moved by your story, and we have been cheering you on every week. And it's not just because we're partial to the name.’

During the clip, we couldn’t help notice the beautiful interiors of her Montecito living room.

For the message, Markle sat on a large cream-coloured sofa with grey, black and cream-hued pillows, while a table behind her supported a Diptyque candle, a trio of cream-coloured candles and stacks of books with one that has a spine that read ‘Women’.

Grand fireplace

During a call with Smart Works, the UK charity that provides clothes and training to unemployed women for interviews, in September 2020, the mother-of-one revealed her beautiful stone fireplace.

Sitting in front of the fireplace in a white blazer on a nude-coloured seat, fans of the royal couple noted that the mantelpiece featured a some black-and-white artwork and a black lamp. The seating also suggested that the room Meghan spoke from could have been the family’s dining room.

White and dark wood furnishings

During her appearance on the 19th Represents 2020 Virtual Summit in August via video call, Markle said it was ‘good to be home’ and showed off one of the rooms in her new home.

The room was light and bright thanks to white-painted walls with a gloss finish and a four-panelled window in a walnut-looking wood frame.

Meanwhile, MArkle sat on a vintage-looking arm chair, decorated with a mahogany-style wood frame and cream fabric. A potted plant containing what seemed to be an orchid sat perched on a glass-top coffee table.

Days later, Harry and Meghan joined forces for their first appearance together in their new home and joined a group of young leaders from our network and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

For the discussion, it appeared the couple sat in their cream-coloured dining room in front of a potted plant.

Big garden and guesthouse

In August 2020, the Duchess of Sussex interviewed feminist activist Gloria Steinem in what was likely the garden of her new home.

Footage of the 'backyard chat' sees the women chatting under a large tree and sitting on wooden garden furniture. Behind them stands a white guesthouse with a canopy.
